It’s been about 24 days since the Nintendo Switch launched around the world. Since then, we’ve received a few new games, mostly from independent developers, and had some time to dig our heels deep into the The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. While we were exploring Hyrule, Nintendo was working on the Nintendo Switch’s first, post-launch update which is now available.
Although we’re not sure how large update 2.1.0 is, on our fast connection, it only took two minutes to download. The notes say it’s a stability update, so it’s nothing to be too excited about. Nonetheless, we posted the GIF above for your amusement.
It’s worth noting that you can go and do other things with the system while the update downloads. When it’s finished….nothing happens. To get the system to install the update, you’ll need to navigate back to the update menu. Peculiar decision on Nintendo’s part to not let us know when the update is finished, but “peculiar” seems to be the Switch’s tagline.
To update your device, just follow these steps:
- Navigate to “System Settings”
- Go to “System”
- Select “System Update”
- Wait for update to finish
- If you left the menu, follow steps 1-3 to finish updating the device.
