Nintendo has refreshed the accounts landing page this week in preparation for the Nintendo Switch launch, which means you can now register for your new Nintendo Account ID. This is completely separate from the Nintendo Network ID you signed up for to use the Nintendo 3DS or the Wii U, so you’ll need to reserve your nick again.
To do this, head on over to the Nintendo Account website to register your new username. You’ll want to do this as quickly as possible if you want to reserve the same name you had on the Nintendo Network, since these are completely separate. If you have a fairly common username you might be out of luck. Either way, you’ll need a username that’s at least six characters.
If you already have a Nintendo Network ID, you’ll be able to sign in using that once you create your Nintendo Account ID. Hopefully, this is the last time Nintendo makes us sign up for a network for their latest console.
