The NES Classic is probably going to be one of the most scalped consoles released in the next few years. Nintendo only did a limited run of the device for the holiday season in 2016 and ended production shortly afterward. It’s looking like the SNES Classic will be given the same treatment, though Nintendo says they’ll produce more of these than they did the NES Classic. I suppose we’ll see.
That hasn’t stopped people from attempting to scalp the SNES Classic on eBay before the thing is even released. You can find “pre-orders” for the device going for upwards of $200.
Stuff like this is why stores like GameStop and Amazon need to make sure customers can only buy one or two consoles at a time instead of ending up with things like this on social media:
