Snake Pass on Nintendo Switch vs. PlayStation 4 [VIDEO]

Sumo Digital’s charming 3D platformer Snake Pass is now available on the Nintendo eShop and other consoles, so Digital Foundry has put together a short comparison video between the Nintendo Switch and the PS4 and PS4 Pro versions to see how the game differs in visuals between the two systems.

The main takeaway from this video is that the game has solid 30fps performance on both platforms, though there are some frame-pacing issues on Switch regardless of whether the console is docked or undocked. The game doesn’t achieve native resolution for either console, with the exception of the PS4 Pro, which plays the game at native resolution and 60fps with multiple resolution options.

  • 1536 x 864 on PS4
  • 1200 x 675 on Switch while docked
  • 844 x 475 on Switch in handheld mode
  • 1920 x 1080p on PS4 Pro

I have the game in hand and I’ve played it both docked and undocked and I have to say, I much prefer the docked mode for the game. It looks stunning and I’ve had a lot of fun with it so far. Expect our review of the title early next week.
