Splatoon 2 will get DLC for “around a year” after release

Nintendo revealed a bunch of Splatoon 2 news today, such as the demo that will be coming on July 15th. But the company also revealed what Splatoon 2 players have to look forward to after the game has launched.

And that’s a lot of DLC. Nintendo has said that they plan to release Splatoon 2 DLC for “around a year” after the game hits the stores on July 21st.

Nintendo showed off the first DLC we’ll get: a new standard weapon named “Splat Brella” – an umbrella, hence the name (check out an image of it below).

The original Splatoon on the Wii U was supported with lots of DLC and Splatfests after release, so it’s great to see Nintendo doing the same for the sequel.

They didn’t get into the little details of what sort of DLC we’ll be getting over the course of a year, but expect the usual new weapons, maps, and other gear.

Splatoon 2 launches on July 21st, and will be accompanied by the new Nintendo Switch mobile app (you can get a sneak peak of it here).

There will also be a final Splatoon 2 multiplayer demo in the form of a Splatfest on July 15th.
