Super Mario Run is a massive success for Nintendo, but it appears that the success is fading at a much faster rate than originally anticipated. The game is no longer the highest grossing app in any country.
However, it still holds the top spot as the most downloaded game in almost 70 countries around the world, and recently surpassed the 50 million downloads mark.
It’s the most downloaded app in 68 countries, which is a considerable decline from 138 countries 10 days ago. Naturally, this has caused Nintendo shares to decline — shares are down 1.5 percent so far today.
The biggest reason for the decline in revenue is no doubt that the game costs $10, which is a hard pill to swallow for mobile gamers who usually pay 3 to 5 bucks for a game (or get it for free and spend money on micro-transactions).
