Yesterday, the 20th of September was the day Apple shipped out units of the new iPhone11, iPhone 11 Pro as well as the iPhone 11 Pro Max phones to customers who had already ordered them online and the phones went on sale in stores around the world.

Shipping times

The shipping times for orders made online are already long and consumers might not find the phones in stores today unless they already ordered or waited in line all night to be there when the stores opened early yesterday. The Apple Store website for the United States has indications that most of the iPhone 11 Pro will not be delivered until sometime between October 11th and 18th but only if they were ordered yesterday. The iPhone 11 is beginning to look as if it will have a little bit more obtainability; estimating delivery to be around October 2nd.

Fanfare in NYC

Also, yesterday Apple reopened its NYC store that is on 5th Avenue to significant fanfare with executives attending for the launches of these products.

Announcement

On September 10th,  Apple announced the 3 new phones at an event at its Cupertino campus. These phones are upgrades – great upgrades over last year’s iPhone XS, XS Max and XR, with the 11 following the XR and the 11 Pro by offering two sizes to follow the XS and XS Max.

Improving photography

Across the line, the emphasis is on improving photography. In fact, you can’t take a bad picture anymore. Now the iPhone 11 has 2 cameras, up from only 1 in the XR. This extra camera has a lens that is wide range allowing for taking pictures or photos that can get more of the scene and Apple has created some rather ingenious software results for flawlessly transferring between modes before and after taking a photo.

Wide to Ultra-wide

Now you can take photos from wide to ultra-wide. An interface that has been redesigned for using the new Ultra-Wide camera shows you what’s happening outside your frame — and allows you to capture it also. It’s the world’s most popular camera, now with a whole new viewpoint. You will be able to capture up to 4 times more scene which makes it great for:

  • Groups
  • Landscapes
  • Travel
  • Large interiors
  • and Action shots

Videos

You will be able to shoot and then edit the upmost in-quality video especially for a smartphone and it will look as good as if a professional did it. This new iPhone 11 shoots stunningly sharp 60 fps and 4K video across all its newly released cameras. This new Ultra-Wide camera snaps 4 times more of any scene, so it’s great to have for any action shots such as your cat chasing a toy mouse. If you are shooting a performance — such as your child’s Christmas play — when you zoom in on your child, the audio will also zoom in so you can get a closeup of your child singing “Silent Night” – hopefully in tune.

Prices

iPhone 11 prices begin at $699 going up to $849, conditional on which storage options you pick from 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. The iPhone 11 Pro lines begin at $999 and range up to $1,449 based again on size and storage. Apple plans to publish all these items for new reviews next week.

New system-on-a-chip

All three of these iPhones have Apple’s all-new “A13 system-on-a-chip”, which the company claims is 20{843bde6f3fa44dacb047e27925385419b6ab6f72b4ea548a6ad2c9b520e01138} faster at doing its tasks than the A12 in last year’s phone. They claim improved battery life over the phones of the past, thanks to both to larger batteries and a chip that is more efficient.

Battery life

Another hour to the battery life for your iPhone would be great so here’s five–this is the most dramatic leap in battery life ever. Up to four more hours of battery life with iPhone 11 Pro, up to five hours more life with iPhone 11 Pro Max and up to 50{843bde6f3fa44dacb047e27925385419b6ab6f72b4ea548a6ad2c9b520e01138} charge in just 30 minutes with a fast charge

New Apple Watch

The new Apple iWatch Series 5 has changed also. It seems that the major new feature of the Series 5, is one of the better new features ever added to the smartwatch – a screen that is always-on. This watch starts at $400 and went on sale September 20 Friday also.

Prior versions

For the last four versions of the Apple iWatch, this device has had two modes of display. If you lifted or raised your arm or wrist to look at the time, it turned on the screen light and would show you time and other bits of information such as the date or the weather. But most of the time, the face of the watch was just a rectangle that was just black “nothingness”. This fixes what many believed was the main problem with this Watch – its most basic purpose for any watch: telling the time all the time.

So, if you are interested in becoming a better photographer, then order one of these new phones. And if the black screen on the watch has always bothered you – get the newest one. They all went on sale yesterday with tremendous improvements – but also with a boost in price.
